After
our ten day fabulous holiday my dear daughter decided to be rude and
disrespectful to one of her parents, and was therefore, grounded with
a three day ban on TV and iPad. The grounding is more of a
punsihment for the parents than the child as you have to make sure
you spend a lot of time with the child so she / he knows that its the
behaviour that was punished and not an attack on her / his person.
So
when we decided to relax her grounding and end the ban sooner she was
told about it and was super excited to get to watch her TV and
play on her iPad again. After sometime, she came and informed me that
she wanted to make cookies so I gave her a choice and said to choose
if she wanted to watch TV or to make cookies and she could only
choose one of the options after several back and forth flip flopping
decision changes the final decision made was she would rather make
cookies than watch TV or play with her iPad.
I
Feel so so proud at the decision making ability of my child,
and I in no way tried to influence her decsion.
So
Sunday morning bright and early, 7:00am she walks into my room and
demands that I keep my promise to make cookies. Chocolate chip
cookies, and she was all set to help, all dressed up and washed up
clean face and hands and teeth brushed. I on the other hand was still
struggling to get out of bed and even get myself to look awake was
such a task, Sarrah skipped to the kitchen dragging me to behind her.
